The year was 1943 and newlyweds Jeanne and Bruce Box were looking for a sweet little getaway. They heard about St. Andrews Lodge and Glen Cottages on Vancouver Island, a family-run guest house by the sea. It sounded nice so they booked it — via telegram, naturally.
