4 Stars Very nice 2,5 d game
This game adds a fresh thing to the franchise of Dragon Ball, I feel the game is very nice and people who love platform games will enjoy a lot with this game. The graphics are great with a lot of detail, the bosses are huge and impressive. The controls are good but I am having difficulties to adapt to use B button to jump.

Another thing I like of this game is the story, the voice actings are wonderful and makes the story even more entertaining.

I recommend this game for all people like me who like a good adventure game with our favorite hero.

4 Stars Walk down memory lane.
I love Dragonball (who doesn’t). This game was actually a 2.5D side scrolling adventure RPG made for the Wii. If you are familiar with the dragonball RPGS for gameboy advance, this is something similar to the experience you will be able to play on the Wii.

The story is pretty much Young Goku’s adventures of the original Dragonball series but the story is more an emphasis on the King Piccolo ark line.

The controls are simple and easy to get into, the game play itself is a bit repetitive since it is mostly side scrolling platforming, fighting, and puzzle solving. Even though it is repetitive, it’s not boring when it comes to the boss battles, many hardcore Dragonball fans will remember the old characters both heroes and villains of the series.

The cutscenes are also very well done since it was made by the same development team that made DBZ:T3 on the same model engine.

If you are not familiar with Dragonball, this is not for you, but if Dragonball is a part of you, this is a good game for the price for those needing a break from DBZ.

4 Stars Pretty good but could have been better…
Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of the original Dragon Ball series, more than it’s younger brothers Z and GT. After being disappointed by the movie Dragon Ball Evolution, I was looking for a new and better outlet for Dragon Ball and found this game. There aren’t that many video games modeled after the original DB and this the first one to be released to North American home consoles that wasn’t “americanized” and the wasn’t a portable. The main game is in the style of an old school beat-em up but with 3D graphics and keeping with the old school style, this game is pretty tough. Not Mega Man Or Ninja Gaiden Hard though, you know that good kind of hard. You have to keep in mind that this is Kid Goku…the storyline takes place when he was a strong, kinda stupid kid learning about the world for the first time. There are only a few things that I found annoying about the game:

- The bosses take a little too long to kill unless you use a Kamehameha. This wouldn’t be a problem if it were just General Tao or King Piccolo that this happens but it’s with almost every boss. This is part of the reason the game is just a little tough and kinda long.

- There is no co-op play…that was pretty disappointing to me. Beat-em ups are always a lot more fun and a lot easier when you’re playing with friends. This could have saved this game from being just above average. The only time you can play with someone else is during the tournament mode.

- By far the best thing about the original DB series is the humor. In this game there’s hardly any. The tone of the story mode is a little too much like DBZ instead. I wish they would have added a little more humor in this game.

- The tournament mode is pretty stale. It’s reasonable that the fighters can’t fly around like they do in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. It’s appropriate but it still doesn’t save it from being kind of boring. I would have liked better if they didn’t include this feature and try to make it like a co-op beat-em up.

Bottom line: If you are fan of the original Dragon Ball series I recommend it but to everyone else I probably wouldn’t.

4 Stars Don’t let the other reviews get to you, the game is fun!
Having a bunch of gameplay/feature/graphic shizz doesn’t mean a game that’s low on that isn’t fun. Dragon Ball Revenge of King Piccolo, despite the fact that there’s only like 10 moves you can do (yes…10, more than you might’ve thought), the stages are pretty linear, and the game is lacking in modes, IT IS FUN! Especially the boss battles.

I’m a type of gamer that just cares about having fun and not so much about all the specs, and this game works for me. It’s not super easy either, you’ll have to repeat several of the boss battles to beat it, and it covers the story pretty well. Due to all the problems you are probably aware of I cannot give the game 5 stars, but I’ve rated it four.

1 Stars Horrible, Horrible game.
This has to be one of the worst games i’ve played. Let me say, I am a huge dragon ball fan. I’ve watched the dragon ball series 2x, and also read the manga books. However, that being said, this is just awful. The graphics: The graphics are decent, however this game could’ve been made for the gamecube and run perfectly. The gameplay: the game is 2.5d, with goku fighting enemies on screen. It is horrible and dull, you walk through a plain level with the same 3 enemies jumping out at you who die in two hits. Also, goku only has 3 moves - attack kamehameha, and jump/attack. Sure, you occasionaly get a boss fight from the show and a cutscene, but these are far and few. There is also a world tournament mode, where you can fight with the characters you’ve unlocked. This is still awful however, because, like the story mode, all the characters have the same 3 attacks. You’ve figure with budokai out they could have at least made it similar to that, but no, they dumb it down so much that every character is basically the same and fighting is no fun at all. The one hour I spent playing this game had to be one of the worst and most wasted hours of my life. Please, don’t buy this game, save yourself the $30-40 and get a good game. And to the guy below who gave this 4 stars - you must either be a 10 year old, or someone working for bandai trying to get sales for this horrible game.
