£1.9bn spent on 82 million games last year in the UK (Macworld UK)

The industry body says the sales, which totalled £1.9bn, were 23 per cent higher than the previous year. Of these sales, 20 million were games for the Nintendo Wii, which was a 112 per cent rise on the figures for 2007.
