The Technology of the Sony Playstation Eye

Just recently, at this year's E3 conference, Sony showed off what they call the Sony Playstation Eye. Sensing deja vu? You could be thinking of Sony's EyeToy, a feature used on the Playstation 2 that pioneered the identification of the real time actions of the player. The Eye builds upon this notion in some fantastic functions, but they are not wholly new ones. That being said, it is very hard to tell just to what extent this feature will really affect the world of gaming, if indeed it can.
